Give the traditional craft of drop spindle spinning a twirl!
This is a fun introduction to spinning for beginners and is a prelude to learning to spin on a wheel should you wish to go further.
By the end of this practical workshop, you will have an understanding of the characteristics of different fibres used for spinning, and a working knowledge of the techniques necessary to enable you to design and spin your own yarns.
You will learn to prepare raw fleece (straight off the sheep’s back) and will create your own colourful batt from dyed merino tops using a drum carder and blending board.
Raw sheep fleece and tops are included in the cost (as well as the use of a drop spindle, flicker, drum carder and blending board for the duration of the workshop).
*Our workshop student numbers are kept to a maximum of five, which allows for individual attention from our teachers. Lunch will be catered so please advise us of any special dietary requirements at the time of booking.
Cost of workshop is $140 (please note this booking covers a 50% non-refundable deposit required to secure your place, the balance can be paid on the day).
